Great stuff. I was raised in the Presbyterian church as a kid, and abandoned it after confirmation, and re-engaged at the age of about 35. Agree with everything you say.
I go to church still, even if its a modern church with a very modern style, its somewhat evangelical (Wesleyan) and its an important part of our lives.
Happy to. I have never been comfortable with atheism or atheists. The roots of the Judeo-Christian tradition is forgiveness, atonement, grace. These are crucial for a stable and genuine just society. This new state religion of Critical Social Justice, is as you say, devoid of forgiveness, it is focused on punishment, revenge and resentment, and is social poison, despite its claims of being focused on 'justice'. It is not.
Additionally, the other fundamental basis of Christianity (and all the major religions) is The Golden Rule. Check this out: https://www.goldenruleproject.org/
The Golden Ruel is notable today, in that the ideas of people like Robin Di Angelo, and Ibram X Kendi explicitly reject it - they do NOT endorse treating all people equally and with the respect you would wish for yourself, they explicitly endorse current discrimination to supposedly correct past wrongs. Not only is this anti-Christian, its social poison, again, focused on revenge and recrimination, dressed up as 'justice'.
Anyone who explicitly rejects the Golden Rule is a fundamentally destructive person, and should be avoided.
I am reading the Bible a lot as well as going to church. Although I had been going to church semi-often, it is meaning more and more to me. Our church is week by week more and more full at all masses.

A very inspiring piece. Thanks for referencing my work in it. These moments really are a grand clarifying.
